Sakhi, as an organization, strives for the socio-economic empowerment of poor women and girl children of the families living below poverty line by improving their existing conditions through their organization into self-help groups. Apart from its work with fisherwomen, SAKHI has also had considerable experience in formation and promotion of Self-Help Groups of self employed women and enabling credit linkages for them. It has also been consistently taking up issues affecting women like domestic violence, alcoholism, dowry, trafficking and so on. The Sakhi team has attended various training programs in the areas of project management, mother and child health, organizational development, participatory rural appraisal, non formal education, withdrawal strategies, advocacy, relief distribution, preparedness for flood, disaster management etc.

A society free gender base discrimination and violence on women and Girl children. A society where women have control over their own body and life and equal opportunities exist for both Men and Women.
